Today was a significant day for Hotel Kaachi Grand as we had the privilege of hosting a team of experts from the Bhutan Agriculture and Food Regulatory Authority (BAFRA), Paro. This esteemed organization conducted a comprehensive training session on food safety for our staff.
The training covered essential topics such as preventing contamination, the five keys to safer food, hand hygiene, safe storage guidelines, personal hygiene and health, hazards, and the causes of foodborne illnesses. The session was both enjoyable and highly informative, leaving our staff equipped with valuable knowledge and skills.
During the training, the experts emphasized the importance of preventing contamination in food preparation. They explained the concept of the five keys to safer food, which include ensuring food safety by practicing good personal hygiene, separating raw and cooked food, cooking food thoroughly, keeping food at safe temperatures, and using safe water and raw materials.
The expert team from BAFRA left no topic untouched, providing a comprehensive and timely reminder for all of us. The significance of proper hand washing was emphasized, highlighting its role in preventing the spread of harmful bacteria and viruses.
Recognizing the direct impact of personal hygiene on food safety, the training session highlighted the significance of maintaining high standards of cleanliness and personal health. The experts emphasized the importance of regular health check-ups for staff members involved in food handling to prevent the transmission of illnesses.
The training also delved into the different types of hazards that can pose risks to food safety. Biological hazards, such as bacteria and viruses, chemical hazards like cleaning agents or pesticides, and physical hazards, including foreign objects like glass or metal fragments, were thoroughly discussed. The staff was educated on how to identify and mitigate these hazards effectively.
The BAFRA experts imparted their extensive knowledge to our staff, covering a wide range of factors that contribute to foodborne illnesses. From improper handling, storage, and cooking techniques to the risks of cross-contamination, our staff gained valuable insights. Equipped with this knowledge, they are now empowered to take proactive measures in upholding the highest standards of food safety.
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the experts from BAFRA for generously dedicating their valuable time to our team.
